PTFE has many unique characteristics as a fluoropolymer, with unusually high thermal stability and chemical resistance, as well as a high melting point (-200 to +260°C, short-term up to 300°C). PTFE also has excellent sliding properties, electrical resistance and a non-stick surface. Compared to other plastics it has low mechanical strength and high specific gravity.
